Our Organic Green Teas, Sencha and Jasmine are imported from the Da Zhang Mountains of the northern part of the Jiangxi Province of China. They are grown in small fields scattered around the mountains at an elevation of 2500 to 3900 feet, creating the ideal condition for these unique, high quality teas. The teas are graded, steamed and dried and finally certified, packed and shipped worldwide.
Green Teas contain more of the simple flavonoids than black teas - the Catechins Flavone C glycosides and Flavonol glycosides and principal active component, EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate). Green tea has been associated with protection against certain types of cancer, digestive and respiratory systems and other benefits, however the protective mechanism of green tea is unclear. The studies in Germany claimed that green tea is also good for healthier teeth. Apparently the tannic acid contained in the tea helps to check certain bacteria. The various studies on the benefits of green teas on skin protection, weight loss, heart disease and other health matters are still ongoing. Green teas also contain only 1% of caffeine by weight. Please note that our green tea leaves are cut and crushed as in the case of some green teas used in the teabag grade. Therefore you will get the full benefit of the full leaf taste - without too much bitterness that is sometimes present in green teas.
4 oz. of loose green tea will make approximately 60 cups of tea. The best way to prepare the tea is to steep 1 teaspoon per 8 ounces of boiling water for 3-4 minutes. Store the loose tea in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.
